Digital Dictation

Digital recordings are the most reliable way to send dictation for typing. The highly compressed digital files make sending dictation by email fast, safe and secure.  The risk of lost or damaged tapes is therefore eliminated and the cost of postage saved. This method is now in regular use by many law firms and other organisations.

How Does It Work?

Simply dictate direct into your computer, or use a hand-held digital recorder and then download the recorded file to you computer with the cable or cradle supplied with your system.  Attach the digitally recorded file to an email, and send to us for transcription.

Which System?

Before purchasing any digital equipment we recommend a visit to the various manufacturers’ web sites to see the whole range available, and to find the most suitable recorder for your needs. There is a large selection from fairly basic and inexpensive models to those with many features designed for professional use. DSS File Format

Look out for systems that save files using DSS or Digital Speech Standard, these files are up to 28 times smaller than standard WAV files which makes them much faster to transmit by email.

Grundig Business Systems

Grundig Business Systems (GBS) is among the leading manufacturers of professional dictation systems worldwide. They produce desk-based systems as well as a range of mobile devices.

Olympus

Olympus manufacture a whole range of digital recorders ranging from basic models to quite sophisticated mobile devices with the most up to date software designed for professional use. Their range also includes desk-based models.

Philips

Philips offer a wide choice of mobile devices to increase both mobility and flexibility. They also produce the well known SpeechMike range for dictating directly into a PC using a multi-function recording, playback and navigation device.

High Criteria

High Criteria produce an excellent package called “Transcription Buddy Recorder Edition” .  This is a very reasonably priced package for dictating directly into a PC.  Recordings can be saved in several compressed formats.

NCH Swift Sound

NCH Swift Sound produce “Express Dictate”, another PC based voice recording package.  This software is designed to have the features you need made as simple as possible and is reliable for day to day operation.
